Terms of Service

Version 1.0 · Effective [Date]

1. Your Account

You are responsible for safeguarding the credentials, device keys, and recovery key associated with your account. Because MyDataGit is end-to-end encrypted, neither you nor we can reset your password without your account data; account recovery requires your recovery key and is documented in our recovery documentation.

2. Our Service

MyDataGit provides encrypted synchronization and version control for project state and secrets. We operate the service to store encrypted data and metadata on your behalf. We never have access to your plaintext secrets or project files, and we transport encrypted content between your devices.

3. Your Data

Client-side encryption means your plaintext data is encrypted on your devices before it is transmitted to our servers. Server-side, we store ciphertext, wrapped keys, hashes, and metadata. You own and control your data. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data, except as required to operate the service or by law.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: misuse the service to store or transit unlawful material; attempt to access another user's account, projects, or ciphertext; circumvent rate limits, authentication, or access controls; or interfere with the operation of the service.

5. Device Authorization

Access to a project's decrypted content is granted to individually authorized devices, subject to approval by a project Owner or Admin. You are responsible for the actions of devices and service accounts you authorize.

6. No Warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure (beyond the encryption controls described in our security documentation).

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or profits, arising out of or relating to the use of the service. Under no circumstances shall our aggregate liability exceed the amount you paid for the service in the three months preceding the claim.

8. Term and Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or where required by law; we will notify you where reasonably possible.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in advance. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms can be directed to our support channels referenced in our documentation.
